Lets Surf The Couch 2010

Well my roommate, Sarah, decided to bring up the idea of going on an exciting and spontaneous vacation this summer(besides the fact the we are both going to Scotland together). She is set on going to Rhode Island, while I have a strange desire to go to a fisherman's wharf in Maine. Of course, money is always a concern when going on an adventure, until she brought up a brilliant idea. Couch Surfing. Understandably, many people do not know what exactly this is. Basically, you contact people who have their name in a database saying that they have a couch for you to sleep on. From this site you can say that you have a couch to sleep on or that you are wanting to sleep on someone else's couch. Yes, I know you may think this is a little sketchy, but actually it is quite safe. We would get to choose the persons couch that we sleep on; places are rated and given feedback. The point of this is that we are not allowed to pay the person to stay there, but instead are asked to help out with something that they may need. I think it's a brilliant idea and have been itching to do something totally spontaneous. I've mentioned this to a few people who have heard great success stories from it. They even knew people that went to Rome and have been doing this for months. That may be a little too extreme for me, but we may try it while over in Europe. Well, that reminds me a little too much about the movie Taken, so maybe not. Whether or not this notion turns into something more, we are putting our couch on the site this weekend. Make sure to check it out here

I know someone taking a larger leap of faith than couch surfing. Try a mixture of a motorbike and a sofa. Then, add the fact that you drive this contraption through the Andes mountains and amazon for two weeks. Check out this crazy insane adventure here.

Midterm

Midterms went as smoothly as possible i guess. one hour of sleep within a few days is not okay, but I got things finished. Graphic Design projects, websites, and photography projects are all finished. I've included a sneak peek at a few of these projects. The website that I created for my multimedia class is up and working! Check it out by clicking here. It's a little cheesy, but I had to fulfill all of the requirements. Enjoy!

Here is the cover for my 16 Page annual report that will be finished in May. Sadly we didn't get to choose the topic, but It's coming along. I'm sure this cover will change drastically as I develop the rest of the pages. Eight pages down, eight to go.

We were asked to create a cookie logo using our name. I usually hate using my name on things, but I'm very pleased with how this turned out. Next we will create the packaging and website.

I bought my first lomography camera! This is my Holga triptych that I handed in today. These photos are taken with an all plastic camera that uses 120mm film instead of the traditional 35mm. Each roll of film only hold 12 exposures where as the film that most people are familiar with holds 24-36.I absolutely loved this project and am excited to continue working with it.

Make sure to check out my website!

Chicago 2010

I just got back to Minneapolis from my spring break trip to Chicago. Sarah, Greg, and I had a great time sight seeing, trying new foods, and meeting up with their friends. It was definitely full of eye-opening experiences for me.I can't wait to go through all of the photos, which will bring back tons of good memories. Before I can do any of that, I need to focus on school and work. Looks like I may not be sleeping for while.
